About Us

The Upper Room: Catholic Books & Treasures was founded in April of 2003 in East Aurora, New York, by Michael & Susan Denz.

The store began in a small 1000-square-foot space on Main Street. In August of 2006, Mike & Sue introduced The Upper Room to the internet.

In October of 2008, The Upper Room moved to a 3000 plus square-foot store to the BJ's Plaza around the corner from the McKinley Mall.

In December 2009 the store closed. We will continue to support our website and look forward to providing you with spiritual gifts in the coming years.

Sue has a BA in Theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville. When she is not helping out with the store, she spends a majority of her time as a mother of their daughter Maria, who was born in April of 2000, as well as the caretaker of the house.

Mike holds a Master's of Theology and Catechesis from Franciscan University. Before being the owner and operator of the largest Catholic store in WNY, Mike was the station manager of WLOF Catholic Radio (101.7 FM) and the Director of Religious Education for St. Mary's Parish in Hudson, NY.
